I’ll Pull Down Your Underwear!

That’s not very nice! Wait now that I think of it, as an adult, that doesn’t sound like such a bad thing…
Well today I’m gonna give you something good to eat. Then we can discuss this whole underwear situation.
Well guess what? The Fucking Fab Food Bloggers are back!

What? Not The Fucking Fab Food Bloggers!

The same! This time we have a new theme, make a recipe inspired by a horror movie. The rules are loose and it didn’t have to be scary, just Halloween themed.

Well, What’s Pea Soup Gotta Do With Horror Movies?

Ohhh, so let me explain! OK, well originally, I was going to do something inspired by Zombieland maybe Twinkie Shots. I found a recipe I was going to modify until I got to the liquor store and found that Cake Vodka is expensive and I’m probably going to never need it for anything else. So I said fuck it! Gotta think of something else.

But What About Rule #32?!

Enjoy the Little Things

We can still enjoy the little things! Peas are little things!

Anyway, I needed another plan because it was like 4 days ago when I ex-nayed the akecay odkavay. So, new plan. I was listening to Welcome to Nightvale when I got the idea for Glow Cloud Cotton Candy!

All Hail The Glow Cloud!

All Hail The Glow Cloud
All Hail.
But alas! My cotton candy machine is broken. Also, I don’t own a cotton candy machine. DAMMIT!
Then yesterday you know what came on the ol’ television? A heartwarming tale of a little demon who could! Pazuzu just want’s to rise above the odds and leave the underworld, so he enlists the aid of a little girl and hijinks ensue! That’s right, I’m talking about The Exorcist.

What?! What The Hell Does That Have To Do With Pea Soup?!

You remember the scene when a possessed Linda Blair pukes up weird green goo onto the priest?

Well you know what that goo really was? Pea soup! And today I’m going to show you how to make Pea Soup with Crabmeat and a Balsamic Drizzle. It doesn’t taste like the vomit of an evil, ancient, Babylonian deity, I swear!

That Sounds AMAZING! What Did The Other Bloggers Make?

It’s #Blogoween, Bitches!

That’s right!

Well I feel like I’ve been building this thing up enough so lets get to it!

It’s a fairly simple recipe and the first step is to chop some onions and mince some garlic. Heat the olive oil in a large heavy bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook for 10 minutes. Add the peas, stir, and cook for 3 more minutes. Add the water, salt, and pepper and stir. Bring the soup to a boil and then immediately turn down low. Cover the pot with a tight fitting lid and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the basil and bust out your immersion blender!

I’ve told you guys before to buy an immersion blender for this very purpose. It’s so much easier than the alternative method of pureeing it in a blender in batches. I love the Cuisinart one on amazon and they are not paying me to say that. (although that is an affiliate link and I get a little cash if you buy through my link!) Just stick it in, turn it on, an let the magic happen!

Just Like My Favorite Neck Massager!

I’m not going to dignify that with a response. Well the soup is pretty much done! Add additional salt and pepper to taste. To serve, place soup in bowls with lump crabmeat in the center. Drizzle some balsamic vinegar over it and serve hot!

  1. LOVE this! The soup is so vibrant, and the crab goes so beautifully with it. Plus, Linda Blair vomit. What more could a girl ask for on Halloween!?

    1. Matthew Cetta

You could ask for a neck massager 😉

  2. You had me laughing the whole way down… and I am glad you didn’t really go into the underwear situation. Your split pea soup is a much more gourmet than what Linda spewed and MUCH prettier! I would totally eat this and I fucking love crab!

    1. Matthew Cetta

I was thinking of making it look all splashy, like it’s just been spewed fresh from the demon’s mouth. But I was in a classy mood I suppose.

  3. I LOVE this! And your blog is so funny, the photos are amazing… Plus the Exorcist rules. Great job!
