OMG!!! It’s Fallout Day!

OMG! Fallout 76! Holy Crap! OMG!

Let’s Go Wander The Wastes!

Ohhhhh fuck yeah! So for those of you that don’t know what we here at Nomageddon are talking about, Fallout is a First Person Role Playing video game series. The game imagines a world where we never gave up that 1950s cold war era mindset and kept pursuing nuclear technology and anti-communist nationalism. One day, during a war with Communist China, the nuclear apocalypse happened. Some people were able to escape to underground vaults where they survived until the world was habitable. Every game, you play a lone wanderer who left/escaped one of these vaults and try to survive in American nuclear wasteland. The last one (which sucked) focused around Vegas and the one before that was based in Washington DC. Everything in it is destroyed, demolished, irradiated, demented, and otherwise fucked. To celebrate the newest release, we’re making something from the Falloutverse!

Strike 3! We’re making a cocktail based on the Nuka-Cola Quantum!

What is Nuka-Cola Quantum?

Nuka Cola Quantum is a cola beverage with an unnatural blue glow. In the game, it is described thusly:

This product is the pinnacle of taste sensation. Seventeen fruit flavors and that signature cola taste blend to form the perfect refreshing soft drink. With its new Strontium additive, its got that unique kick to keep you on your toes.

Yep, radioactive isotope Strontium-90 is the secret ingredient they use to make it stand out on shelves! It also gives the beverage a “kick” and makes your pee glow!

I love It When My Pee Glows!

Uhhhhh. Not judging. So we need to make a tasty drink that also has a deep blue color. They say 17 fruit flavors, but honestly that sounds disgusting. Also one of those flavors is passion fruit and that’s the only food I’m allergic to. It also has to be fizzy, must be sweet, and needs to be served in a Nuka-Cola Quantum bottle.

Challenge 1: The Bottle. So Nuka Cola is basically Fallout’s version of Coca Cola. So just buy Coke in glass bottles, drink the Coke, and rinse it out. Next you need labels and you can find those right here on Empty Samurai’s Deviant Art page. There are other ones floating around, but that’s what I used. Just print, cut them out, and Krazy Glue onto the coke bottles.

Challenge 2: Blue. What makes it blue? You know they make a blue liqueur? Blue Curaçao! Curaçao (pronounced Cur-a-sow) is flavored with peels of the laraha fruit, which is similar to an orange. It’s then dyed blue with strontium-90 err… artificial flavoring.

Challenge 3: Sweet and fizzy. We need sweet booze that’s also carbonated. Hmmmm. I’ve got it prosecco! We’ll also be using Cointreau to add more kick and orange flavor and some lemon juice for tartness.

Booze Never Changes

Let’s make a drink! Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add Blue Curaçao, Cointreau, and lemon juice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Using a funnel, pour the contents into an empty coke bottle labeled with your newly printed Nuka Cola Quantum labels and then fill the rest with chilled sweet prosecco.

That’s it! That’s a Nuka-Cola Quantum Cocktail. Make it for your nerdy friends this Fallout Day! #VoteJohnHenryEden2016
